Website editing job opportunity for journalists

A leading website in Kenya is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in writing and editing. In addition to writing, editing, and proofreading site content, this person will also work closely with the technical team to maintain site standards.

The journalist will also be responsible for crafting site promotions, email newsletters, online outreach campaigns, and content syndication.
The ideal candidate has these qualities:

  •     You’re a young person, recently graduated from college and less than 27 years old.
  •     Your spelling, punctuation and headline-writing are impeccable.
  •     You can work without supervision and are comfortable writing several articles per day.
  •     You love the tone and style of online blogs and read them often.
  •     You know how to use Twitter, Facebook and other social media to attract and engage an audience.

Key result areas will include:

  •     Number of articles written
  •     Pageviews generated by articles
  •     Comments generated by story

Qualifications include:

  •     Minimum of a diploma in either Media Studies, Linguistics, English/Lit, communications or PR.
  •     Excellent writing and editing skills
  •     Strong researching skills
  •     Ability to handle deadlines
  •     Familiarity with social media platforms
