US President Barack Obama is on his way to Kenya. Mr Obama started his journey as scheduled on Thursday night at Joint Base Andrews, a military facility located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, via Germany.
“Air Force One will leave Joint Base Andrews en route Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany as previously scheduled,” said a Whitehouse official said.
The White House told reporters on Wednesday that Obama’s itinerary for the trip to Kenya and Ethiopia would not be changed despite the reported disclosure of the president’s arrival and departure times in Nairobi, which was against procedure.

The distance between the USA and Kenya is 7,527.2 miles or 12,113.9km (6,536.6 nautical miles) and it will take Obama anything between 15 and 22 hours to get to Nairobi.
President Obama’s Air Force One is expected to touch down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport late afternoon, where a spectacular reception awaits him. The airspace will be closed for 50 minutes prior to the touchdown of Air force One and the roads will be clear of traffic.
He will be received by senior government officials led by his host President Kenyatta.
