Nairobi street children to be housed at a posh centre in Ruai

Up to 3,000 street children will be housed at the Ruai Rehabilitation Center currently being constructed by the Nairobi County Government.

The Nairobi County Executive for Education, Youth and Social Services Anne Lokidor says the Ruai Children Rehabilitation Center is scheduled to be completed by mid next year.

It will offer a home for thousands of Nairobi street children, whom some city residents have accused of being behind incidents of insecurity in the streets.



Once complete, the street children will all be rounded up and taken to the rehabilitation center, which is equipped to offer early childhood education, primary and secondary education.

The Ruai center, which will cost an estimated Ksh200 million, will also have a football pitch, basketball court and indoor games arena.
