KQ Cargo, the freight division of Kenya Airways has been named the African Cargo Airline of the Year for the second time on the trot, in the recently concluded Air Cargo Africa event held in Johannesburg.

The division whose mandate is to transport various cargo across the Kenya Airways network operates in 20 countries across three continents. “Receiving this prestigious award is a great honour and a powerful endorsement by our customers of our focus and dedication to providing the highest levels of service. It sets us apart in the increasingly competitive African region and confirms that we are on the right track,” said Mr Dick Murianki, General Manager KQ Cargo.

Winners are chosen by worldwide readers of the Shipping, Transport, Aviation and Tourism,  STAT Trade Times, a monthly India-based aviation and air cargo publication, who nominate their choice in various award categories online. African cargo services were fastest growing in 2014, registering approximately 6.1% ahead of Asia/ Pacific and Europe regions according the aircargoworld.com.

There has been continued demand for air cargo services across the world and International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts traffic growth in 2015. The African continent remains a key market for KQ Cargo with a huge trading potential especially with Kenya Airways’ expansive Asian network.

Kenya Airways new route to Hanoi in Vietnam is expected to buoy the cargo traffic as the airline becomes the first to connect Africa to the Asian tiger nation. With its continually growing network and fleet expansion, KQ Cargo is set to offer enhanced levels of connectivity, flexibility and reliability to its cargo customers across Africa.
