Kenyans want dirty politicians barred from 2017 elections

A majority of Kenyans want politicians with questionable character barred from participating in the 2017 elections, according to an Infotrak survey.

The survey results released on Tuesday show that 77 per cent want electoral candidates to disclose their sources of funds.

Most politicians have wealth acquired under questionable circumstances, mostly through corrupt deals. The spotlight will be on those who have amassed wealth in a very short period.

About 67 per cent of Kenyans want President Uhuru Kenyatta to consult with the Opposition chiefs in appointing the next electoral commissioners. Only Central region is against the idea of Uhuru consulting Cord in picking IEBC commissioners.
