Blogger Robert Alai attacked with stones in Embakasi

Blogger Robert Alai escaped death by the skin of his teeth after unknown assailants last evening pelted his car with stones as he drove in Embakasi area, east of Kenya’s capital Nairobi.

Mr Alai, a fierce government critic and unapologetic scandal buster, alleged that the four people had been sent to kill him. He escaped unhurt. “Four guys sent to kill me,” he said on his Facebook page around 10pm last evening. “They tried to immobilise me by hitting my car with stones.”

The motive of the attackers was not immediately clear, but being a critic of government and its officials as well as the self-appointed “voice of the public” on social media and online platforms, he suspects someone he rubbed the wrong could be looking to settle scores.  “It was an attempt on my life,” he said. “My car is extensively damaged.”
