Uhuru to attend Maasai ritual where 300 bulls will be slaughtered

More than 100 bulls and 300 goats will be slaughtered at the tradional ceremony to elect the tribal chief for the Oltuati Maasai moran in Imbirikani in Kajiado County next weekend. More than 3, 000 warriors will graduate after electing their leader.

Kajiado South MP Katoo Metito and the Kenya Meat Commission chairman Tarayia Kores said the animals are being inspected.

Jubilee leaders in Kajiado on Friday met in Loitokitok to plan the President Uhuru’s attendance of ceremony. It will be the first time in the history of the Elaiser Maasai sub-clan of Ilkisonko clan for a president to attend the function, which will be held on Saturday, 28th June.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga is expected to visit the morans on Friday. ODM Election Board chairperson Judith Pareno said Raila will give the morans a present, the Star reports.
