Turnover dips as NSE stocks start week on a low note

Turnover declined to Ksh375M from the previous session’s Ksh785M, the number of shares traded stood at 16M against 19M posted on Friday.

The NSE 20 Share Index was up 28.56 points to stand at 4021.14. All Share Index (NASI) eased up 0.59 points to stand at 147.63. The NSE 25 Share Index gained 18.50 points to stand at 4230.67.

Automobile & Accessories: Up 5.6% Sameer moved 217,000 shares and closed at Ksh3.75.

Banking Sector: The Banking Sector had 3.8M shares traded and represented 23.23% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Bank moved 2.6M shares at between Ksh41.50 and Ksh42.00. KCB rose to Ksh41.75 on a volume of 362,000 shares, up from Ksh41.50 posted the previous session. Co-op Bank moved 338,000 shares and closed at Ksh18.25.

Construction Sector: Construction Sector moved 1M shares, which accounted for 6.34% of the day’s traded volume. East African Cables was the most heavily traded counter in this sector, with 1M shares changing hands at Ksh10.60 and Ksh10.95.

Insurance: The Insurance Sector moved 1M shares, which accounted for 6.30% of the day’s traded volume. KenyaRe moved 773,000 shares at a fairly stable price of Kes.21.00. Britam down 1% to Ksh14.85 moved 249,000 shares.

Manufacturing & Allied Sector: Manufacturing & Allied Sector moved 415,000 shares, which represented 2.49% of the day’s traded volume. EA Breweries edged down two shillings lower to close at Ksh275.00 on a volume of 37,000 shares. Mumias Sugar moved 297,000 shares and closed at Ksh1.65.

Telecommunication & Technology: Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with 8.6M shares changing hands at between Ksh16.35 and Ksh16.95.
