Tanzania Voted Best Safari Destination in Africa

Tanzania has been voted as the best natural tourist attraction in Africa. According to an international survey released by an online platform for African tours, safaribookings.com, Tanzania is the most preferred destination for tourists in Africa.

The results were aggregated from interview with over 1,000 people from 53 countries and an expert analysis of more than 3,061 reviews. In both, Tanzania emerged as the best tourist attraction in Africa. It scored 4.8 out of 5 stars, the highest among the major safari countries.Botswana and Kenya tied at 4.7, followed by South Africa and Zambia which scored 4.6. Namibia had 4.5 stars, Uganda 4.2 while Zimbabwe got 4.1 stars.

“With its abundant wildlife, excellent species, diversity and evocative and baobab-studded landscapes, Tanzania is one of Africa’s most rewarding safari destinations,” noted Mrs Mary Fitzpatrick, the author of 6 Lonely Planet Guides to Africa including Tanzania The user reviews were complemented by reputable guidebook authors, working for Lonely Planet, Rough Rides, Frommer’s Bradt and Footprints, which teamed up in the Safari Bookings Expert Panel to write 756 expert reviews.

Tanzania is favoured because of the superb wildlife viewing in top-class parks of which two are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the great wildlife migration, best chimp tracking of Africa in Gombe-Mahale mountains National Parks and the relative political stability have contributed to a high tourist turnout.

“Tanzania boasts beach holiday extensions on Zanzibar Island, including kite-surfing, direct flights from abroad make the northern and southern safari circuits easily accessible. The authentic African wilderness with unfenced parks, dirt roads and endless plains makes Tanzania to stand out among the safari countries in Africa,” said Mr. Wouter Vegeer, the owner of the website.

The monthly user ratings show that Tanzania can accommodate safari at any time of the year. The best time to visit Tanzania, though, is during the dry season between June and October.
