NAIROBI, Kenya
Safaricom Safari Sevens today received a major boost after Multichoice Kenya and SuperSport pledged a sponsorship deal worth Kshs 8.5 million for the rugby tournament that is slate to kick off on 21st of September 2012.
A cash donation of Kshs 1 million and another Kshs 7.5 million pledge to carter for production costs was presented to the Kenya Rugby Football Union KRFU chairman for the three day event that will be held at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. While presenting the donation to KRFU chairman, Mr Mwangi Muthee, Multichoice Kenya General Manager, reiterated their long term commitment in investing and supporting local content and talent.
“For over 15 years that Multichoice has been in this market, no other pay television channel can rival DST in terms of investments in the Kenyan market,” said the chairman.
The 14th edition tournament also received another major boost when SuperSport agreed to provide a state of the art Outside Broadcast unit, valued at half a billion Kenya Shillings and two standard definition Outside Broadcast (OB) vans for quality broadcasting across East Africa Equipment used for broadcasting will comprise of ten High Definition (HD) cameras, one HD SuperSlow camera, two goal cameras, two six-channel EVS machines for slow motion and surround sound capability.
The rugby tournament, which was formerly known as Tusker Safari Sevens, attracts a total of sixteen teams from different parts of the world.
