Samsung Electronics is taking pre-orders in Kenya for its latest smartphone the Galaxy Note9 starting August 17. The first 500 customers to pre-order the smartphone will get the opportunity to receive their new devices by August 24, the company said on Thursday.

The multinational electronics company also said it will reward the first 500 pre-orders with a welcome pack including a DeX HDMI cable, a wireless charger and a tripod stand. The reward package is worth Ksh12,000.

Tech blogs in Kenya price the Galaxy Note9 at a range of about Ksh100,000 to Ksh 124,000.

Charles Kimari, Head of Mobile Division at Samsung said the Kenyan market should expect the Galaxy Note9 to be offered in the colour variants of Midnight Black, Ocean Blue with a Yellow S Pen and the new Metallic Copper with matching S Pen.

“Our smartphone portfolio continues to evolve to provide our customers with devices that enhance their lives and open the possibilities to new experiences. The Galaxy Note9 is designed for a level of performance, power and intelligence that today’s power users want and need,” said Kimari.

The S Pen, a signature feature of Samsung’s Note series, features a Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) support which Samsung says will deliver an entire new way of using the smartphone. Tech developers can even integrate the S Pen’s BLE functionalities into apps later in the year.

Galaxy Note9’s 4,000mAh battery is the largest on a flagship Galaxy phone and Samsung says this will offer longer lasting power.

The South-Korean founded multinational also said its smartphone’s storage is ready to accomodate 1TB, spread out over internal storage options of between 128GB and 512GB, with the further option to insert a microSD card of upto 512GB.

The phone will go on sale on August 24 in select markets across the globe, Samsung confirmed.
