Four people have been reported dead while an unknown number sustained injuries after a Lang’ata route matatu lost control and plunged into Baker’s Inn, located at the junction of Moi Avenue and Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.



The driver of the ill-fated St Mary’s Sacco Nissan matatu reportedly vehicle lost control of the vehicle as he negotiated the railways roundabout at high speed and drove straight into the hotel.

Sources indicate that some customers who were having their late lunch or making purchases at the hotel were also injured with some feared dead. The joint is popular for its cookies and fast-food.

The matatu was extensively damaged. It was not immediately clear if it was carrying any passengers.

Regular operators around the hotel say this is not the first time a vehicle has plunged into the hotel. Baker’s Inn has since then been closed.
