Old becomes new as Nokia 3310 makes a nostalgic return

The new Nokia 3310’s 1,200mAh battery is good for a staggering 22 hours of talk time.

As anticipated, the Nokia 3310 was relaunched amid an enormous swell of nostalgia at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.  The legendary handset has been treated to a fresh-but-familiar new look, but arguably the biggest change to the 3310 isn’t one you can see.

HMD Global, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, has dramatically improved its already famously impressive stamina. The new Nokia 3310’s 1,200mAh battery is good for a staggering 22 hours of talk time.

According to the company, that’s ten times better than the original, which typically lasted for a little more than two hours of talk-time. In stand-by mode, the battery will keep running for up to 31 days between charges, which HMD Global says is three times as good as what the original handset offered.

It’ll power through up to 51 hours of MP3 playback too, as well as up to 39 hours of FM radio playback. It’s also removable, as the 2000 version of the 3310’s battery was, but the 2017 model is rechargeable via a microUSB port.  HMD Global says the new Nokia 3310 “will retail at an average global retail price” of €49 (£41), and will be available to purchase during the second quarter of this year.
