Moses Kuria wants hate-speech case heard in camera

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria (pictured) appeared in court today over the controversial video in which he is heard inciting residents to violence.

Through his lawyer Danson Mungatana, Mr Kuria has filed an application to bar the media from covering the proceedings over “intimidating and convicting him.”

The case comes after a video in which Kuria is shown to be allegedly telling panga-wielding youth to defend the National Youth Service and its projects.  The court will make a ruling on whether or not the media will be barred on July 20.

Last week, the MP appeared at the CID headquarters and said his remarks were taken out of context, faulting the media for misinterpreting his apology.

His agitation with the media took a spark after he literally walked out of Citizen TV news interview with Hussein Mohamed on Tuesday. He accused the media of editing and ‘patching’ of clips that were originally not his.
