Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero today appeared before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over allegations that he signed deal worth Ksh4.6 billion Metro transportation system whose process is suspected to have been flawed.

Dr Kidero walked to Integrity Centre in morning accompanied by supporters.

According to EACC, the Governor was summoned to record his statement in an “Inquiry into allegations of procurement irregularities by officers of Nairobi County government in the signing of an MOU with Foton East Africa.”

EACC began corruption investigations in 33 counties whose officers are alleged to have engaged in different malpractices most of which touch on procurement. The anti-graft agency will employ different tactics including getting court orders that will compel governors to record statements, if they refuse to appear before it.
