NAIROBI, Kenya
With less than three weeks to the launch of the Kenya Airways daily flights to Eldoret, excitement is peaking over the new service amongst travelers with high numbers of bookings recorded so far. From October 17th 2012, the national carrier will start daily flights to the town that sits in the Rift Valley region.
An experience of the Embraer E170 jets awaits the travelers on these flights, with an introductory promotional fare of only KSh5, 000 ($59). The Chief Executive of Kenya Airways, Dr. Titus Naikuni said that the service, which is a combination of superior quality service that guarantees value for money, is expected to be a game changer in the route.
“Our ever discerning customers in this country want convenience, comfortable and reliable travel at a fair cost; and this service to Eldoret is our contribution towards making this a reality,” Dr Naikuni added. Eldoret, a city of great significance economically, academically as well as in the country’s sporting circles, becomes the 59th destination for the airline, which has been working towards strengthening its regional presence, a key part of its expansion plan.
Dr. Naikuni noted that as Kenya moves towards a devolved government structure it would open up new opportunities that would require frequent travel by business executives and government officials to the counties. Through these flights that will greatly enable the opportunities that come up to be tapped, he explained, the airline would be contributing towards sustainable development, not only in Kenya, but also the rest of the continent, which is the airline’s core purpose.
