People use water every day when brushing teeth, bathing and washing hands and dishes. By making small changes, we can make a big difference, and together, make every drop count. Colgate-Palmolive shares some tips for water conservation ahead of the World Water Day on 22nd March 2017:

  1. Brush for 2 minutes twice a day, but turn off the tap: Dental Associations worldwide recommends brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day. But turning off the tap while brushing your teeth can save up to 11,350 litres of water per year – that’s the equivalent of 50,000 glasses of water!
  2. Reduce showers by 2 minutes: Reducing your shower by 2 minutes saves both water and energy. In one year you can save up to 6,800 litres of water and enough energy to power a 13-watt compact fluorescent light bulb for approximately 2 years.
  3. Turn off the tap while washing the dishes: Rather pour water in a tub or basin.
  4. Turn off the tap when washing hands: Turning off the tap for 10 seconds while washing your hands can save both water and energy. In one year you can save up to 1,500 litres of water and enough energy to power a 13-watt compact fluorescent light bulb for over 2 months.
