End of low fuel prices as roads levy rises

The low fuel prices enjoyed by Kenyan motorists have just evaporated.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, in his Budget Speech, has increased the road maintenance levy by Ksh3 to raise more funds for repairing roads across the country.

This means the price of fuel is expected to rise effectively by Ksh3, taking away the relief brought about by low cost of crude in the international market. This greatily hits the middle class segment of the population.
