ASUS to launch a raft of products to the Kenyan market

The technology industry has been ruthless and the adage of ‘shape up or ship out’ can be clearly envisaged in the way companies have been innovating products to remain relevant in the fast-paced industry. Laptop-maker ASUS has been on the lookout not to disappoint in the innovative product portfolio.

The company is planning to launch three products in the Kenyan market to stay afloat with the other tech titans. The products which are manufactured elsewhere will be available in the Kenyan market since demand for innovative products is now becoming globalised. “Consumer demands are becoming similar from all over the world,” said Mr Chris Wen, ASUS Kenya Country Product Manager. “2015 will see consumers demand more innovative products rather than focusing on trends and our products are meant to sate the demands.”

The gadgets are expected to hit the Kenyan market in June this year. Some of them were showcased during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. “Part of our strategy for this year will be to try and introduce innovations that have been unveiled elsewhere to the local market,” noted Mr Wen.

During this year’s CES, the tech brand unveiled a raft of new innovations for various segments. These included a mini PC for the home, professional and commercial display projectors alongside networking solutions for homes and offices.

Part of the products that will be introduced to the Kenyan market are Zenfone 2 (a Smartphone), Transformer Book T300 Chi (an ultrathin 2-in-1 laptop) and a gaming PC machine. ASUS bagged seven innovation awards during the CES event with the ZenBook NX500 and ZenBook UX305 ultraportable laptops, the Transformer Book T300 Chi 2-in-1 detachable, and the ROG GR8 ultra-compact gaming laptop all scooping awards in the Computer Hardware and Components category, the curved-screen LX321 and LX341 monitors won in the Computer Peripherals category, and the ROG G20AJ compact gaming desktop won in the Gaming Hardware and Accessories category.

Mr Wen attributes this to the company’s strive to “meet consumers’ needs in terms of portability, entertainment and convenience.”
