Al Bashir flies out of South Africa despite court order

Omar al-Bashir, the President of Sudan, ignored a court order in South Africa and flew out of the country without drama.

President Omar al-Bashir flew out of Johannesburgdespite his plane being moved to a military base, reports the BBC. Bashir had been attending the African Union summit when a South African court issued an order to prevent him from leaving the nation.

The court cited the ICC’s accusations of Bashir committing war crimes as cause to prevent him from leaving. According to Al-Jazeera, officials from the Sudanese government had stated that President Bashir would return to Khartoum on Monday, June 15, 2015, regardless of the what the court order said.
