Octagon Africa has launched the Octagon Unit Trust, introducing five professionally managed investment funds aimed at helping more Kenyans grow their wealth through diversified and regulated investment solutions.
The new Unit Trust introduces five investment funds targeting different investor profiles, as the company seeks to widen access to regulated investment products beyond traditional pension savings and bank deposits.
The funds comprise the Octagon Money Market Fund (KES/USD), Fixed Income Fund, Equity Fund and Balanced Fund, offering investors access to professionally managed portfolios across money markets, government securities, corporate bonds and listed equities.
“Octagon Africa has long been recognized as a trusted leader in long-term retirement savings and employee benefits solutions. The introduction of the Octagon Africa Unit Trust marks a significant milestone in our journey, broadening our investment portfolio and reaffirming our commitment to helping both individuals and institutions achieve their financial aspirations at every stage of their financial journey,” said Mwendwa Mutisya, Head of Asset Consulting and Unit Trust at Octagon Africa.
“More Kenyans are looking for investment solutions that can help them build wealth and achieve their financial goals. The Octagon Unit Trust provides professionally managed funds that cater for different risk appetites and investment objectives, making it easier for investors to grow their savings with confidence.”
The Octagon Money Market Fund, available in Kenya Shillings and US Dollars, invests in high-quality short-term instruments, including Treasury bills and fixed deposits, offering capital preservation, daily interest accrual and liquidity. The fund is expected to appeal to both local and diaspora investors, with Kenya receiving approximately over KES 650 billion in remittances over the 12 months to May 2026.
The Octagon Fixed Income Fund invests in Treasury bonds, corporate bonds and fixed deposits for investors seeking stable returns. The Octagon Equity Fund targets long-term capital growth through investments in listed companies on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and regional markets, while the Octagon Balanced Fund combines money market, fixed income and equity investments to provide diversified returns for investors with a moderate appetite for risk.
The Unit Trust, also offers goal-based investment solutions for education, home ownership, retirement and other long-term financial objectives. Investors will also have access to digital account management, investment planning tools and professional advisory services, alongside dedicated products for SACCOs, chamas and family investment groups. The Unit Trust was unveiled under the theme “Invest Today. Secure Tomorrow,” in an event that brought together regulators, investment professionals and industry leaders to discuss the role of collective investment schemes in strengthening Kenya’s savings and investment culture.
“Every investor has unique financial goals and a different appetite for risk. Professional fund management helps ensure investments are managed by experienced, licensed professionals while giving investors access to solutions that match their objectives,” said David Kyalo, Senior Portfolio Manager, Old Mutual Kenya
The launch comes at a time when investor appetite for financial assets remains strong. Recent Treasury bill auctions have attracted bids worth more than twice the amount on offer, while Treasury bond auctions have also been heavily oversubscribed, reflecting growing confidence in Kenya’s investment market.
