The popular Tukuza Gospel show aired on KTN every Sunday morning suffered a severe blow after two key hosts were retrenched by Standard Group.

DJ Krowbar and Kendi Ashitiva, who announced their departure on the live show last Sunday, had turned the show into a movement with their blend of style and music knowledge. In an emotional farewell, they said they would be pursuing personal interets.

DJ Krowbar said he would be concentrating on TV production, adding that his departure would give an opportunity to young talents to come into the show.  “It was emotional having to let them go, since we had become a family over the years,” Tukuza’s producer, Mable Achieng, said. “But fans need not worry as Anthony Ndiema remains on the show while we will feature various guest deejays.”

Standard, which has issued a profit warning after half-year profits fell by a massive 89% to Ksh21M, is executing a painful layoff that seeks to cut its expenses by reducing its by 30%. It has fired a good number of journalists both from the newspaper and TV departments.
