People shuts Sunday newspaper

The People Daily, which rebranded into a free newspaper last year, has stopped publishing on Sunday.

The newspaper has consolidated its weekend coverage into one paper, to be known as PD Weekend, which will be publishing on Saturday starting this weekend.

This is a strategic decision which takes the competition for one-newspaper weekend publishing to the door step of the Star. It’s not clear if there have been any job losses in the restructuring.
Weekend is the most competitive in newspaper publishing dominated by the Nation and Standard.
