Lady luck smiled at a 23-year-old cabin crew with a local airline after being drawn as the first GOtv subscriber in Kenya to win Ksh1 million in the ongoing ‘Dunga Milli’ promotion.

Ms Evelyne Kerubo purchased and activated a GOtv decoder for Ksh1,399 earlier this month. “I had just returned from work in Lagos and noticed many missed calls on my mobile phone. Upon enquiring, I was informed I had won a million shillings and could not believe it,” she says.

The draw, conducted in the presence of a Betting Control and Licensing Board officer, will see thousands of Kenyans win various prizes for purchasing and activating a GOtv decoder. Ms. Kerubo, whose favourite channel on GOtv is Sony Max and MNet Zone movies, says: “At times, I am spoilt for choice on GOtv especially when I want to watch all the great programming but my favourite channel is Sony max and Movies.”

She plans to use her first million shillings in savings, education and tithing. She also plans to treat her family as well.

“As a true migration partner and with this kind of reduced pricing, GOtv has perfectly positioned itself as a leader in the digital arena and thus will play a pivotal role towards accelerating Kenya’s digital migration process,” said GOtv Kenya General Manager Felix Kyengo.

Some of the channels available on GOtv include Africa Magic World, Africa Magic Swahili, SuperSport Select 1 and 2, One Gospel, E! Entertainment, Telemundo, eTV Africa, ZEE World, Disney Junior in addition to local channels such as KBC, NTV, KTN, Citizen TV to mention but a few.

“As a digital operator,” he says, “we understand that content is very important that is why the GOtv channels have been carefully selected to offer a host relevant international and local channels made in Africa for Africa to cater for a variety of tasted for the whole family.”

GOtv now covers over 30 towns across the country.
