NAIROBI- Kenya Airways has launched lounges for its business and first class customers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The lounges will serve Premier World and Sky Priority passengers.
The Sh131 million Simba and Pride lounges located at the new Terminal 1A are part of the airline’s long-term investment in facilities to deliver a world-class experience to travellers. “This is one of our investments targeted at enhancing the loyalty of our customers,” said Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr Mbuvi Ngunze.“It was particularly painful when the August 2013 fire broke out and it took us 14 days to come up with a small lounge.”
The new lounges cover 1,351 square metres and feature business experience centres, family lounges, napping areas, washrooms and showers, smoking zones and dining areas overlooking the airside.“These lounges, coupled with the state-of-the-art aircraft we are acquiring are aimed at ensuring that we deliver unmatched experience from start to finish,” he added.
Mr Ngunze, who took over from Titus Naikuni early this month, said he is optimistic about the airline’s growth prospects. “I have great hope as I take over as the new CEO of KQ. We have the youngest fleet,” he said. Improving on customer experience and increasing frequency on certain routes in Africa will be key areas of focus, said Mr Ngunze.
KQ recently scooped top awards at the Africa Investor Tourism Awards and was declared the Business Airline of the Year in Africa. Acquisition of its sixth Boeing 787 Dreamliner last month marked the completion of its first phase of the modernisation programme code-named Mawingu.
