WINDHOEK, Namibia: June 26 (Xinhua) — Namibia will host the first-ever International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition in September this year in a bid to explore the implications, opportunities and challenges associated with the discovery of oil and gas in Namibia.

The conference is scheduled to take place in Windhoek from September 6 to September 7 under the theme ‘The Road to Discovery and Beyond’. Speaking at the launch of the two-day conference on Tuesday, co- founder and executive director of Rich Africa Consultancy (RAC) Selma Shimutwikeni said the learning platform will ultimately establish the foundation for developing a sustainable framework for the proficient management, development and investment in Namibia’s petroleum resources.

She said attendees at the conference will range from government decision-makers and investors to international oil and gas industry executives and most importantly, the local business community.

RAC has confirmed the presence of leading international and national experts on diverse areas such as economics, finance, tax, geology, petroleum operations and specialised upstream legal matters, along with industry players with international experience who will interact with stakeholders in the Namibian petroleum industry, Shimutwikeni said.

The conference will allow for the exchange of ideas and promote discussion on key issues of interest to the industry. More than 400 people are expected to attend and 30 exhibitors are expected to showcase their services and network with other key players. (Xinhua)
