The University of Nairobi is Kenya’s only institution of higher learning that features in the Top 30 list of universities in Africa.
The ranking, which was released this week at the inaugural Africa Universities Summit in South Africa, was conducted by respected global experts and the Times Higher Education (THE). The first-ever ranking devoted to African universities shows that University of Nairobi, Kenya’s largest and oldest university, emerged position eight overal, with a citation score of 84.6%.
No other Kenyan university appears in the top 30 bracket which was chiefly dominated by South African universities. Makerere was ranked third, with a score of 99.72% while Addis Ababa University emerged 16th with 64.84%.
