SABC (South Africa Broadcasting Corporation) contributing editor, Vuyo Mvoko, was mugged outside Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg while the news organisation’s cameras were running.

The incident took place while Mvoko was preparing to do a live interview for prime time news on SABC3. He was covering the arrival of Zambian President Edgar Lungu at Milpark Hospital this evening. The two muggers were in full view of the cameras and easily identifiable.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said nobody was injured during the mugging. “The crew were not harmed although they are still in shock. They were robbed of personal belongings including cell phones and a laptop. The matter has since been reported to the police who were called to the scene.”
