Safaricom has opened a data centre in Kapsoya region in the outskirts of Eldoret town to strengthen its signal quality in the North Rift region. The data hub dubbed MGW is the 11th facility from the mobile services operator and cost around Ksh20million.
The centre will be used as the nerve centre to address all data demands by the residents of North Rift. Some of the issues the centre will cushion customers against are data speeds and network failure in the region.
“The construction of this facility has been driven by the demand from our customers for data services. This site is well equipped and has been designed in a way that will enable any future expansions that we may need to do,” said Safaricom’s Director of Technology Thiboud Rerolle while commissioning the facility.
The Kapsoya facility will provide space to house equipment that will be used in maintenance of Safaricom network in the region to reduce network outages.
