NSE indicators down despite rise in trade

Turnover rose to Ksh805M from the previous session’s Ksh525M, the number of shares traded stood at 30M against 23M posted yesterday.

The NSE 20 Share Index was down 38.63 points to stand at 3941.46, the All Share Index (NASI) shed 2.45 points to stand at 144.76, while NSE 25 Share Index shaved off 60.80 points to settle at 4189.23.

Automobiles & Accessories: Sameer moved 45,000 shares and closed at Ksh3.70.

Banking: The Banking Sector had 12.7M shares traded and represented 41.96% of the day’s traded volume. KCB Group actively moved 9.2M shares at between Ksh41.00 and Ksh41.50.

Equity Group Holdings was down 4.29% to Ksh40.75 moved 2M shares. Barclays Bank moved 525,000 shares and closed at Ksh12.20.

Commercial & Services: The Commercial & Services Sector had 420,000 shares traded and represented 1.38% of the day’s traded volume. Uchumi Supermarkets closed ten cents lower to Ksh5.55 on a volume of 174,000 shares. Kenya Airways moved 121,000 shares and closed at Ksh4.40.

Energy & Petroleum: The Energy & Petroleum Sector moved 1.1M shares, which accounted for 3.87% of the day’s traded volume. KenGen saw 1M shares changing hands at between Ksh7.70 and Ksh8.15. Down 1.86% to Ksh10.55 KenolKobil moved 82,000 shares.

Insurance: Insurance Sector had 463,000 shares traded and represented 1.53% of the day’s traded volume. CIC Insurance moved 256,000 shares at between Ksh5.95 and Ksh6.20. Britam Holdings moved 163,000 shares and closed at Kes.11.95.

Investment Services: Nairobi Securities Exchange had 131,000 shares changing hands at between Ksh22.50 and Ksh24.00.

Manufacturing & Allied: The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had 342,000 shares traded, which represented 1.13% of the day’s traded volume. Mumias Sugar moved 188,000 shares at a fairly stable price of Ksh1.50.

Telecommunication & Technology: Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with 14.8M shares changing hands at between Ksh16.40 and Ksh16.70.
