Nokia has announced the availability of the Nokia Lumia 1020 in the Kenyan market, a smartphone that sets new standards in imaging. Nokia General Manager for East Africa Bruce Howe said Kenyan consumers have embraced the Nokia Lumia range of smartphones which is using technology and innovation to meet changing tastes and standards.

The Lumia 1020 produces sharp images like any digital camera, thanks to Nokia’s innovative PureView technology, including a second generation 41 megapixel sensor, ZEISS optics with six lenses and optical image stabilization – allowing people to capture, edit and share photos and videos of professional quality. Using a new application called Nokia Pro Camera, the Nokia Lumia 1020 reinvents zoom, enabling people to shoot first and then zoom later to discover and rediscover stories that contain more detail than the eye can see.

With a beautiful interface that visually demonstrates how settings will affect the final photo or video, Nokia Pro Camera simplifies features usually reserved for professional cameras and teaches people how to take better photos. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is the most versatile digital camera available. Its unique dual capture feature simultaneously takes a high resolution 38 megapixel image for endless editing opportunities, and creates a 5 megapixel picture that is easy to share to social networks with Windows Phone 8.

The success of Lumia in the local market can also be attributed to the support it has enjoyed from local operators. Safaricom announced exclusive availability of the Nokia Lumia 1020 until December 2013, with a great local offer of KSh 79,999 including 1.5GB data and a special accessory bundle including the DC18 charger and a Mozo leather cover. Nokia Lumia 925 retails Ksh53,999 with 1.5GB and 500 airtime and Nokia Lumia 625 at Ksh28,999 with 500 MB and 250 airtime are some of the other unique products that safaricom has unveiled. The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in yellow and black covers.
