Nine pupils at Pemja Primary School in Nandi County have been forced to drop out of school after doctors revealed that they were pregnant.
According to some of the teachers at the school, medical officers who visited the school examined the girls and disclosed that the nine were pregnant.
Parents of the victims have openly expressed their bitterness and disappointment with the perpetrators saying that their children’s dreams have been cut short and their future shattered by the unknown culprits.
“We are really disheartened that our children’s future has been destroyed, even after bending over backwards to pay their school fees,” said one of the irate parents.
“It is so sad that our children who we bank on as future leaders and development agents are predisposed to early pregnancies and marriages,” he added.
The parents have called on the doctors and police to work together and ensure the culprits are brought to book, stressing that more children may end up with the same fate.
The girls have been taken to a local hospital for further medical checkup and to get P3 forms as police launch investigations into the matter. (Citizen Digital)
