Mungai Eve is one of Kenya’s most popular YouTubers with 395,000 subscribers on her channel as of November 2021. The 21-year old has built up a loyal following of people who appreciate her content focusing on interviews of people with fascinating stories – not just celebrities.
Eve began her YouTube journey towards the end of 2020. Creating a channel wasn’t in her plans, it was a suggestion her boyfriend and Director, Trevor, offered as Mungai pondered on her next step after dropping out of college due to financial difficulties. Mungai was considering going back home to Murang’a County where she hails from.
Her first videos were from the Gengetone Festival which took place in Machakos County in November 2020. With Eve in front of the camera and her boyfriend behind it, she began gaining traction with her coverage of upcoming artists and youth in Nairobi’s low-income neighborhoods.
Music and social media stars such as Stoopidboy, Madocho wa Kanairo and Manzi Wa Kibera shot to fame thanks to viral interviews on her platform.
She also began offering artists and other creators an opportunity to promote their videos on her platform. Speaking on her channel in June 2021, at a time when she had 140,000 subscribers, Eve and Trevor claimed that they were making up to Ksh1.5 million every month.

Eve asserted that it was due to their consistency – with at least 3 videos published every day.
“On YouTube, the harder you work the more money you make. Views increase, subscribers increase. You do longer videos, watch hours increase.”
“What I earn now isn’t what I’ll make next month. But if I sleep, I could make even less than I was making,” she explained.
The Mungai Eve brand has grown to become a go-to source for celebrity news and other entertainment content. Nowadays, she interviews not just little-known artists but also some of the country’s biggest names such as Jalang’o, Eric Omondi, Bahati and Willy Paul.
She’s maintained that she has big plans for the future including partnerships and collaborations but is currently focused on maintaining the growth of her platform.
