Kibera youth burn NYS project in protest against devolution minister Anne Waiguru

Kibera youth burn a public toilet built by the National Youth Service in the area as they demonstrated against Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru. T

Police said about 300 youth started demonstrating at 7 pm at Kibera’s Olympic stage, where they lit bonfires and barricaded the road. “The youths were dispersed by Administration Police from the nearby chiefs camp but later regrouped at Katwekera at 9 Pm where they set ablaze the toilet constructed by NYS,” said the police.

The youth were protesting against a move by another group from the area to participate in demonstration along city streets in support of Ms Waiguru against claims of alleged corruption at NYS.

The statement further said the protestors accused those who took part in the demonstration of deliberately spoiling the name of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by claiming that he did not initiate development projects in the area when he was MP.
