Kenya Releases 2024 Academic Calendar  For Schools And TTCs

The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 academic calendar for schools and teacher-training colleges.

In a letter sent to all Regional Directors of Education, County Directors of Education, and Sub-County Directors of Education the Director General for basic education, Dr Elyas Jillaow, states the 2024 school academic calendar term one will commence on January 8, for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools and end on April 5, 2024.

Dr. Jillaow said during the 13 weeks, the students will have a three-day half term from February 29th, 2024, to March 3rd, 2024, while the April holiday will start on April 8th, 2024.

Pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will commence their second-term classes from April 29th, 2024, to August 2nd, 2024. Half-term will be from June 20th to 23rd, 2024, while the August holiday will be from August 5th to 23rd, 2024.

The Director General stated that the pre-primary, primary, and secondary school third term calendar will commence from August 26th, 2024, to October 25th, 2024, for a period of nine weeks.

“The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment will begin on October 28th, 2024, to October 31st, 2024, while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education will start on November 4th, 2024, to November 22nd, 2024,” he announced.

Meanwhile, Dr Jillaow added that the December holiday for schools will start on October 28th this year and end on January 3rd, 2024.

On the Teachers Training College calendar, which includes Diploma in Teacher Education for Secondary, Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education, the Director General said the first term will begin on January 8, 2024, to April 5, 2024, while the second term will be from April 29, 2024, to August 2, 2024, while the third term will be from August 26, 2024, to November 8, 2024, respectively.
