A court has ordered the arrest of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo after he failed to produce a child that he is fighting to keep.
Mr Jirongo was expected to appear in court on Friday and hand over his one-year-old child to the mother to whom the court granted custody, the Standard reports.
Senior Resident Magistrate D N Kotu issued a warrant for the arrest after he failed to appear in court with the child as directed.

This comes after Jirongo filed a suit against the magistrate who stripped him of custody of his child. Jirongo who filed the suit on Thursday under the name Shakhalagha Khwa Jirongo is aggrieved by Resident Magistrate ZW Gichana’s move to give custody to the child’s mother.
The person granted custody of the child, he said, is a police suspect who is under investigations for abandoning and endangering the minor’s life. Jirongo wants the court to quash the court order and directions that followed, made by Gichana on June 18, this year.
