The National Treasury today met with the Council of Governors to deliberate on modalities of tackling challenges in the implementation of e-procurement. The electronic procurement and payment platform, launched in August last year, has been rolled out to the national and county governments.
The Council of Governors said it is backing the use of IFMIS e-procurement across all counties to enable the respective counties streamline their public procurement. The system is expected to give senior county officials including governors better control of procurement processes in their respective counties.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich said the IFMIS e-procurement has been designed to ensure that public procurement of goods and services is done fairly, equitably, transparently, competitively and in a cost effective manner by all government procuring entities.
“IFMIS e-procurement system is linked to an Item Master which has indicative prices for all commonly used items. This will ensure that there are no price inflations by procuring entities thus enhancing value for money procurement,” he said.
