Githurai stripping suspects denied bail once again

The Milimani Court has for the fifth time declined to grant bail to the Githurai stripping suspects.

The duo Nicholas Chege Mwangi and Meshack Mburu Mwangi jointly with others not before court are accused of robbing their lady passenger of Ksh10,200, a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone worth Ksh27,000, a bottle of perfume, a clutch bag and a make-up kit valued at Ksh1,700 on the night of 19th and 20th September, 2014 at Milimani Petrol Station in Gighurai 44.

The suspects face a second count of sexually assaulting the victim on the same night they robbed her. In his testimony today before the Chief Magistrate D. Ogembo , the owner of the vehicle in which the incident occurred, confirmed before court  that he owned the said vehicle and that the accused were his employees.

The High Court on 9th June 2015 had rejected an application for bail made by the suspects saying the offence was serious and attracts death sentence.
