NAIROBI – Fairmont Raffles and Swissôtel (FRHI), which owns the Fairmont hotels, has appointed a new boss for their Kenyan outlets. Mr Davide Bertilaccio will oversee operations at the Fairmont The Norfolk, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont Mara Safari Club as the Area General Manager.
Announcing the appointment, Mr Sami Nasser, Senior Vice President, Operations for FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI), Middle East, Africa and India said Mr Bertilaccio will be responsible for the performance and operations of three hotels, which collectively have 290 guestrooms and suites, 51 luxury tents, and over 10 food and beverage outlets.
He is expected to build on the brand recognition and leverage on the group’s footprint in Africa even as it prepares to launch new offerings. “His operational experience in leading markets and destinations will set the groundwork for new initiatives within this collection of landmark hotels,” said Mr Nasser.
Prior to this appointment, Mr Bertilaccio was responsible for the management and rebranding of the Mövenpick Hotel Casablanca, in Morocco. He also worked with the group in 2011, where he relaunched the Mövenpick Hotel and Gammarth in Tunisia.
He has over 25 years of experience in the luxury hospitality business and has worked in four continents. He joins the company at a pivotal time as the Fairmont The Norfolk, the ‘Grand Dame of Nairobi’ celebrates its 110th anniversary later this year.
