Closing Bell: Foreign buyers raid Equity Bank stock

The NSE20 edged up 0.4 per cent as turnover rose compared to yesterday’s session to $3.3 million. Equity Bank buoyed today’s trading, accounting for 49 per cent of turnover.

Foreign investors were the main buyers on the counter which moved up 0.3 per cent to Kshs16. Other actively traded counters were Safaricom, but which remained flat at Kshs 3.25) and East African Breweries Ltd, which gained 1.2% to reach Kshs164.

Foreign investors were net buyers of Safaricom and net sellers of EABL, according to analyisis by African Alliance. Notable among the top gainers was TransCentury, which went up 6% to Ksh 26.50, while among the top decliners was Kakuzi, which shed 3.4% of its stock value to Kshs 70 and CfC Stanbic Bank, which dropped 2.4% to Ksh40.50).
