KTN and Standard newspapers are set to have new sports editors as the company restructures to enhance its viewership and readership.

Celestine Karoney, who quit KTN to CCTV in 2012, is set to bounce back to Mombasa Road. Joshua Kemboi, who was KTN Sports editor, took a voluntary early retirement after working at the station since 1998.

Meanwhile, the succession battle for Standard Newspaper Sports Editor Omulo Okoth, who is set to retire next year,  has started in earnest. Already, Robin Toskin, who was billed in the newsroom to take over the mantle, is said to have been silently transferred to the production desk, tossing him to the sidelines of the race.

Toskin, an avid writer and football analyst, is likely to take over the role of revise editor from Richard Kerama, who took voluntary early retirement last month. It is said former Standard sports writer Mutwiri Mutuota is being groomed to take over from Mr Omulo.

Sources at the Sports Desk say Mutuota, who currently works for capital FM, is set to come in as a writer this year to understudy Omulo as his retirement draws closer.
