Aggreko expands wings to East Africa

Global provider of temporary power and temperature control services Aggreko has opened service centre in Nairobi, which will serve as the East African hub.

Situated within the grounds of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the facility was inaugurated by Hon Kiraitu Murungi Minister of Energy and Aggreko CEO Rupert Soames in a ceremony held at the new depot.

The Nairobi facility is the sixth service centre in Aggreko’s Southern and East African network and is the first operation to be based in East Africa is strategically located to support industrial users in and around Nairobi as well as shipping, mining, manufacturing and agricultural businesses operating throughout the country.

Commenting on the new depot opening, Rupert Soames, said: “Aggreko is highly committed to expanding our presence across Africa. The success of our operations in Kenya will act as a springboard for our continued growth throughout East Africa.”

“Kenya is a key strategic market for Aggreko,” commented Martin Foster, Head of Local Business, South and East Africa. Aggreko is highly committed to hiring and training a strong local workforce to support the new facility. “We take very seriously the development of our local Aggreko people. The long-term success of our business is directly linked to a highly capable and well trained Kenyan workforce,” said Foster.

Aggreko provides turnkey temporary power and temperature control solutions to customers across a range of industries. Temporary power packages help companies deal with power outages and load shedding, guaranteeing their supplies and reducing the risk of business disruption when blackouts occur.

Aggreko’s temperature control expertise helps industrial, mining, food and beverage and major events companies to cope with peak seasonal demands and provides emergency capacity when vital cooling infrastructure breaks down.
