The Al-Futtaim Automotive Group has opened a fully-fledged technical training school at its CMC Motors complex in Nairobi. This is part of the Dubai-based automotive firm’s strategic effort to boost its customer experience and after sales capacity in East Africa.

Speaking when he officiated the opening of the new purpose equipped training facility, visiting Al-Futtaim Automotive Group President Len Hunt said the investment in the mordern technical training facility underpins the firm’s commitment to deepen skills in the local automotive market. From his Dubai base, Mr Hunt leads a portfolio of automotive businesses operating in 14 countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

The Al-Futtaim boss, who was accompanied by CMC Motors CEO Mark Kass and Managing Director Wanjohi Kangangi confirmed that the automotive conglomerate is sparing no effort to reclaim CMC Motors glory.

Barely two years into Al-Futtaim’s CMC Group acquisition, Hunt disclosed that the firm is doing “very well” with continuous corporate investment and expansion programmes now under way.  “Through the CMC Group, the Al-Futtaim Automotive Group is doing very well on our first foray into sub-Sahara Africa as we continue to invest and expand,” Hunt said.

Corporate plans focusing on enhanced customer service, market development and quality products provisions, Hunt added, have already been formulated as part of a strategic effort to retain a more than 20% market share locally.

The CMC Motors Technical Training Academy features a closed environment for technical training with eight adjacent designated automotive engineering bays equipped as per FORD, MAN, New Holland, Mazda, Eicher, Suzuki and related manufacturers standards. TheCMC Motors Technical Academy is accredited to offer various business management and automotive engineering courses for its staff.
