Photos: Pope’s simple car and his touching message to Kenyans

The most conspicuous thing about Pope Francis is not his penchant to greet children or his not-so-clear hand writing. It is the car he used from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to State House.

Many had speculated about his official car with some saying he will use a heavily guarded top-of-the range machine in the league of President Obama’s The Beat.  But wonder of wonders the Holy Father rode a small fuel-efficient Honda saloon car below! That is a stuck contrast with what African pastors and church leaders would prefer.

On arrival the Pope also signed the Vistor’s book with the message: “With prayerful gratitude for your care of travellers.”

The Holy Father took time to think though his message before putting pen to paper as President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto and First Lady Margaret, watched in awe!

Then he did what he does best: bless the children!
