Eight passengers die in grisly Thika Road accident

Eight people died last evening and 22 others were injured when a matatu they were travelling in lost control and veered off the road, near Blue Post Hotel on Thika road.

Witneses say the accident was caused by a personal vehicle that attempted to overtake the matatu but rammed into it from behind, pushing it off the road where it overturned.

Confirming the incident, traffic base commander Apelles Chacha said the 22 casualties all in critical condition were admitted to different hospitals in Thika.The bodies of the eight fatalities were moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary.
