Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu is free to leave the Jubilee coalition if she so wishes, National Alliance Party chairman Johnstone Sakaja has said.

Mr Sakaja said he would not condone Ms Ngilu’s negative utterances about the Jubilee coalition in its fight against corruption, stating that she should fight to clear her name.

Speaking today in Nairobi, Mr Sakaja said he understood Ngilu was under pressure over such allegations, but asked her to quit the Jubilee if she feels short-changed. “She should leave the coalition if she feels she is out of place here and fight her war elsewhere,” he Ms Ngilu’s is quoted as saying by News24.

The utterances follow Ms Ngilu’s recent statements over the fight against corruption in the country, saying that the Jubilee coalition had skewed priorities.

On Monday, Ngilu defended CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka against allegations that he grabbed National Youth Service NYS land, saying it belongs to the Kamba community. She spoke at Milimani law courts in Nairobi after the mention of a graft case against her.

Ms Ngilu said the allegations only prove how non-committal the government is to the war against corruption. Ms Ngilu accused the government of protecting powerful figures implicated in graft and engaging in political witch-hunt.
