Former Cabinet Minister Mukhisa Kituyi’s son died on Saturday night under mysterious circumstances.  Ivar Makari Kituyi (pictured above), who was aged 30, passed on in his house in Nairobi after suffering suspected diabetic attack, according to his friends.

His sudden death has raised questions since Makari had not complained of ill-health. The family and friends said Makari, who married recently, spent his Saturday evening with friends in the city before retiring to his home at Roselyn Gardens where he was found dead.

Makari’s wife had gone to attend a party at a school where she teaches in Kitisuru area and when she arrived home late, she found him dead on the bed, a family friend said.

Makari’s body is lying at the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi. He was the eldest son of Dr Kituyi who is also the Secretary-General of the senior United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Police said a post mortem exercise will be conducted on the body to establish the exact cause of the death.
