Buoyed by the sale of BAT shares, NSE turnover rose to Ksh619M on a volume of 7.8M shares, up from Ksh516M on 18M shares posted yesterday.British American Tobacco was the day’s main feature with 565,000 shares changing hands at between Ksh701.00 and Ksh735.00.
The NSE 20 Share Index was up 0.36% or 17.20 points to stand at 4790.42 and All Share Index (NASI) was up 0.14 points to stand at 163.02.
In agriculture, Limuru Tea was up 8.7% to Ksh1,033.00 for 400 shares traded. Williamson Tea touched 12-month high of Ksh396.00 and a low of Ksh360.00 on a volume of 7,000 shares.

The Banking Sector had 1.8M shares traded and represented 23.84% of the day’s traded volume. Co-operative Bank up fifty cents to Kes.22.00 moved 769,000 shares. Equity Bank moved 428,000 shares and closed at Ksh46.25.
Commercial & Services Sector moved 1.1M shares, which accounted for 14.96% of the day’s traded volume. TPS Eastern Africa was the most heavily traded counter in this sector, with 805,000 shares changing hands at Ksh36.00. Uchumi Supermarkets up 2.8% to Kes.9.20 moved 76,000 shares.
Energy & Petroleum Sector moved 525,000 shares, which accounted for 6.74% of the day’s traded volume. KenolKobil moved 337,000 shares and ended the day at Ksh8.25. CIC Insurance Group was unchanged at Ksh8.00 moved 267,000 shares. British American Investments moved 164,000 shares and closed at Ksh21.25.
Mumias Sugar was unchanged at Ksh1.90 moved 409,000 shares, while Safaricom moved 1.9M shares and closed at Ksh16.05.
