Jeff Koinange dodges jail, Tony Gachoka released

The High Court today ordered the release of Tony Gachoka  from p****n and suspended a Ksh2 million fine he had been ordered to pay pending hearing of an appeal case.

The orders served as a temporary reprieve to the businessman who spent the entire weekend b*********s after failing to raise the fine slapped on him alongside Jeff Koinange, talk show host, in a contempt of c********e. Justice Weldon Korir suspended the Ksh2 million fine to give room for the hearing of an appeal case that Gachoka has filed at the High Court.

Principal Magistrate Maisy Chesang on Friday June 5 gave them two hours to raise the amount or be remanded in Industrial Area P****n. Jeff Koinange raised the amount and was released. Also slapped with the Ksh2 million was Standard Group’s – the owners of KTN – company secretary Carole Cheruiyot who was however released on a Ksh100,000 cash bail and given until  Monday June 8 to raise the fine.

The duo were found g****y of disobeying court orders that were issued stopping them from discussing the conduct of Kwacha group of Companies Limited in the media. The company directors, Jimi Wanjigi and  Sani Mbui Wanjigi  complained to the court that Koinange and Gachoka ignored the orders issued on March 20 and went ahead to discuss Kwacha Group on the  Jeff Koinage Live show  on April 1. The show is aired on KTN.
