Over hundred people are feared dead after a five-storey building collapsed this morning, in Makongeni estate along Jogoo Road.

Rescue efforts have gathered momentum and so far seven people have been pulled out of the debris and taken to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Nairobi county government officials are looking for the owner who allowed people to occupy the building without occupation certificate and development control, according to Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke. The officials are on site to confirm whether the building was approved or not. The building is reported to have collapsed at around 3am and the caretaker has gone missing.
